Chapter 276 Who caused Martian Manhunter to develop persecution complex?
The operation to subdue the cyborg superhero went much more smoothly than expected. While C. Batson, controlled by the Mite of Meditation, at least put up some resistance, the cyborg superhero's resistance was completely suppressed by Supergirl.
Chen Tao watched coldly as the super girl bound the silent mechanical superhero into a dumpling.
He knew that when the Supergirl attacked the Mecha Superman, the Mecha Superman should be able to immediately understand everything.
He is not stupid.
Throughout, the robotic superhero disguised himself as a loyal dog of the armed faction within the government in order to cover up his true intentions.
In fact, ever since Batman impersonated Cyborg to deceive Steppenwolf, Cyborg should have known that his true identity had undoubtedly been exposed to Batman. However, Cyborg had already prepared for this situation:
He had previously instructed the militant officials, whom he controlled with nanobots, to produce a document outlining a plan for Superman and Steppenwolf to cooperate against Batman.
This contingency plan saved his life during the subsequent internal review, turning the fact that "Batman discovered that Cyborg and Steppenwolf were colluding" into "a group of American militant officials were colluding with Steppenwolf, and they ordered Cyborg and Steppenwolf, who obeyed their orders, to join forces against Batman."
After the government dealt with the so-called "radical militants" (who were actually slaves controlled by the mechanical superman), and asked him to cooperate with Batman, he immediately went quiet and did not make any underhanded moves.
He cultivated the persona of a loyal dog to the government, portraying himself as someone who would do whatever the government asked him to do, even if it meant cooperating with aliens like Steppenwolf to fight his own superhero, Batman.
He succeeded; he explained everything away. Thanks to Steppenwolf, when he spoke with Batman disguised as the cyborg Superman, he was at most polite in his attitude and speech, but not respectful at all, and he never said anything about them both belonging to Darkseid. What did their words prove anyway?
It could easily be explained away as a deal between the armed faction within the government and Steppenwolf.
Once the mechanical superhero has sorted out these matters, his credibility can be fully backed by the government.
With a bang, the Supergirl saw that the mechanical superhero was still not unconscious, so she punched him on the forehead again.
Chen Tao just watched silently.
Actually, there's nothing wrong with the idea of the mechanical superhero.
"You see, my actions against you before were entirely based on the orders of those militant officials. I was just a dog following orders."
"What? You're saying I'm cooperating with Steppenwolf? I don't care. I only follow government orders. Those officials told me to cooperate with Steppenwolf, so we cooperated."
"Oh! Those officials have been dealt with, but dear government officials, what will you do with this loyal dog like me?"
"Wow, so the government wants me to work for Batman? Great, great!"
"What bad intentions could a loyal dog possibly have?"
boom!
Supergirl smashed open the mechanical half of the robot superhero and inserted the virus device given to her by Chen Tao. Wonder Woman flew out of the spaceship, opened the cabin in outer space, and pulled out C.C. Batson, who was bound by the Lasso of Truth.
Then she tied the mechanical superhero together with an infinitely extendable lasso, linking him with C.C. Batson, like two grasshoppers on the same rope.
Chen Tao simply watched silently throughout.
Actually, the robot superhero is not bad at being a spy.
He possessed both the ability to disguise himself and the skills to do so. After Batman tricked him out of his true identity using his teammate Steppenwolf, he was able to maintain his pre-prepared "loyal dog" persona and continue to obey government orders, happily working alongside Batman in the Justice League. Even after being discovered, he used himself to help another spy, Supergirl, build trust with Batman and the League, truly pushing himself to the limit.
how...
Chen Tao's gaze lingered on Kara, the supergirl who was diligently stuffing the mechanical superhero and C.C. Batson into the cabin.
He had read the comics in his past life and knew what Darkseid had done!
(Note: In the original comics, Darkseid did indeed control Supergirl Kara, which is why the protagonist suspected him, then boldly verified the information, carefully examined it, and finally identified him.)
No matter how much the mechanical superman does, he can deduce the process directly from the answer, which is equivalent to having a bird's-eye view of the whole situation. No matter how meticulous the plan is, if you look with a magnifying glass, you can always find a flaw.
Supergirl Kara was very nervous, but she didn't show it at all. She personally locked C.C. Batson and the mechanical superhero into the cabin below the spaceship.
While she was making her move, she kept an eye on Batman and the other two people out of the corner of her eye.
Was she also exposed?
That's why she volunteered to be in charge of tying people up and stuffing them into the cabin.
If she discovers that she has also been exposed, she can immediately release Cyborg Superman and C.C. Batson. A chaotic battle and escape would be an acceptable outcome. Although it is not as impactful as a sudden backstab during the final battle, at least the three of them would retain some of their fighting power, which is already commendable.
Fortunately, no one suddenly grabbed her neck until she put both of them into the cabin.
"Let's go."
Chen Tao said.
Kara breathed a slight sigh of relief. It seemed they hadn't discovered anything. The sacrifices of Cyborg Superman and C.C. Batson had indeed been worthwhile.
They returned together to the Hall of Justice. Batman was the first to jump off the spaceship, followed by Wonder Woman, then Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, and then…
Then Supergirl was choked by the last Martian manhunter to get off the spaceship.
Three minutes later.
The supergirl collapsed to the ground, convulsing, her entire body covered in green slime, even her face was sprayed with green turbid liquid, her mouth was crooked and her eyes were unfocused, and under the influence of kryptonite, she painfully rolled in different directions.
The Martian hunter wiped the corner of his mouth.
Just now, taking advantage of the moment when Supergirl was most relaxed after returning to the Hall of Justice, he vomited a mouthful of kryptonite solution that he had been saving up for half a day onto her head from behind.
Only now have all three spies finally surrendered.
It's not easy.
Martian Hunter wiped non-existent sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.
"You can leave now. I'll find a place to settle these three who have been identified."
He heard Batman say to them, "You've all worked hard, go back and get some rest. There are less than 50 hours left until the moment we plan to deal with Steppenwolf. We still have a tough battle ahead of us."
After saying that, he grabbed the three spies and disappeared into the golden vortex portal.
A few minutes later, Martian Manhunter walked down the corridor of the Hall of Justice, all alone; Wonder Woman was living directly in the base.
It was pitch black outside. He walked for a while in the brightly lit corridor, but caught up with Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, who was also heading towards the exit.
"Hey, Ron (Mars Manhunter's real name), you're back? Oh, right, it's about that mission from last time, right? Batman told us about it, but unfortunately, Batman gave me another urgent mission at the last minute."
Hal, the Green Lantern, turned and saw Martian Manhunter, looking somewhat surprised. As he spoke, he pulled a technologically advanced prosthetic leg from his backpack, a materialized form of Green Lantern technology.
"Batman sent me to Metropolis to steal a mob boss's prosthetic leg. It seems to have been fitted with some kind of technology from Brainiac's robots—when Brainiac invaded Earth last time, some of his reconnaissance robots were left behind in other parts of the planet and captured."
He rummaged around and pulled out something else: a crowbar that looked like it had some kind of energy-emitting device.
Hal enthusiastically shared his things with the Martian hunter, like a child full of the desire to share:
"This thing can fire lasers; it's a weapon used by a minor villain called Crowbar, who works for that mob boss—"
(Note: Crowbar is a third-rate villain in DC Comics. He is a real person in DC Comics. He is a black man who wields a crowbar that can fire energy attacks. He used to be a street thug. Apart from his name and the weapon he uses, which are rather ridiculous, he doesn't have any other notable characteristics.)
"Hmm..." Martian Manhunter, having nothing else to do, was happy to chat with Green Lantern for a while: "Were you dealing with those criminals the whole time?"
"Of course, Batman said he really needs that prosthetic leg."
(Note: There's a reference to a prosthetic leg here. In the Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon asked Star-Lord to bring him a useless prosthetic leg, claiming it was an important part for modifying the spaceship. But in reality, Rocket Raccoon tricked Star-Lord; he just wanted to see the legless guy hopping on one leg.)
This implies that Chen Tao casually gave Hal a task and then had him bring back something useless, or that Chen Tao didn't actually give Hal any other instructions at all.
Hal held up the prosthetic leg and shook it: "He told me this prosthetic leg is the key to victory!"
"..."
Martian Manhunter was speechless. Although he wasn't quite sure what Batman had been busy doing, at least one thing was certain:
Although this prosthetic leg looks high-tech and cool, it has no technological content whatsoever and is completely useless.
However, he didn't intend to expose Green Lantern's excitement. The other man's silly appearance made Martian Manhunter relax and begin to emerge from the tense atmosphere of constantly participating in the backstabbing of traitors during the previous few hours of his journey.
and many more.
relax?
Martian Manhunter suddenly felt a sense of déjà vu before his eyes. The images of the mechanical superhero, CC Batson, and Supergirl that he had relaxed with earlier flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern.
Ron the Martian Hunter's eyes suddenly sharpened.
Wait, I arrived at 2 PM, then Super Girl came at 3 PM, and Robot Superman came at 4 PM...
So, who was in front of Batman at 1:00?!
Thinking about it!
Let's analyze this more calmly. Batman had previously put Green Lantern on the list of people to do the work, but then suddenly kicked him out.
Suspicious, very suspicious.
I ran into him in the hallway, by sheer coincidence. Even though this is the only way for everyone entering and leaving the Hall of Justice, and even though we often encounter other superheroes here, why did I have to run into Green Lantern Hal at this particular moment?
That's strange, so very strange.
However, Green Lantern Hal had no idea what Martian Manhunter was thinking at that moment; he had really just returned from fighting off gangsters.
That gang's businesses span the globe, involving various crimes and a lot of advanced technology. Although their physical strength was like a toy car in front of Hal, it still took him a lot of time just to investigate the case and find the location with Alfred's help, which is why it only just ended now.
It was already quite dark outside. Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern walked together along the corridor of the Hall of Justice, which was a rather long way.
"Why are you walking behind me?" Green Lantern Hal suddenly heard Martian Manhunter say this out of the blue.
"?" Hal said, "Ah, I was just taking a walk."
"Oh, oh, oh..." Martian Hunter nodded repeatedly.
Then he touched his neck, which Hal didn't understand.
"Then why are we walking in the same direction?"
"??? Of course it's because we're all leaving the Hall of Justice and going home, so we have to take this only exit corridor."
"Oh, oh, oh..." Martian Hunter nodded repeatedly.
"Then why is this corridor so long?"
"What are you talking about?"
Green Lantern Hal is getting fed up with Martian Manhunter's nonsensical questions: "Is that even a question? Is this your first time walking down this corridor?"
"No, that's not it," Martian Hunter said.
Before Hal could answer, he abruptly changed the subject: "Can you walk ahead of me?"
"?" Green Lantern Hal was baffled by the other party's attitude.
He simply didn't want to talk, so he just walked straight up to Martian Hunter.
Then Martian Manhunter suddenly grabbed him by the neck from behind.
"??? What happened?"
"Batman really did think I was a spy, sending you to arrest me," Martian Manhunter said. "He's definitely mistaken. I have to talk to him myself."
As he spoke, he manipulated his body to transform, quickly silencing the other person.
Green Lantern Hal: "Waaaaah—waaaaah?"
……

……
Meanwhile, on Chen Tao's side...
A few hours later, he appeared in Lucius's laboratory.
The night has passed, and the morning sunlight shines through the laboratory windows onto all sorts of experimental equipment.
In fact, Chen Tao was originally supposed to settle the three arrested spies and then be able to reach the laboratory.
For some reason, a whole incident occurred where Martian Manhunter, believing he was suspected of being a spy, beat up Hal, the Green Lantern who he thought was sent to arrest him, and then tried to prove his innocence to Hal. This wasted a lot of his energy.
Damn it, I told him I never doubted Martian Manhunter from the beginning, why doesn't he believe me?
Who caused Martian Manhunter to develop paranoia?
In any case, now that everything has been resolved, he should move on to the next step of his plan.
At this moment, besides Lucius himself and Dr. Silas Stone, there were two other people in Lucius's laboratory:
Clark Kent and Louis Lane.
The former Superman, and his current girlfriend.
Wow, it's a book written by a friend, it's really good!
Hogwarts: Harry Has a Home Too
This is a Harry Potter fanfiction. The protagonist is an old guy, similar to Howl, and also has a moving castle. By chance, he ends up living on Privet Drive, and in the future, he'll be leading a bunch of hapless kids to give Voldemort a good beating.
