Chapter 47 Breaking the Promise
Chapter 47 Breaking the Promise
Chapter 47 Breaking the Promise
"What I mean is, the Joker did kidnap Mayor Carroll after all. He's a mayor, even if he doesn't have a lot of power and is obsessed with power, he's still the mayor of Gotham City."
"Wouldn't the Joker... do the same to him?"
Chen Tao interrupted him: "How could the bait malfunction before the fish take the bait?"
That being said, if it were the real Batman, he would definitely rush to save him immediately. Because if he stood him up, the Joker might not harm Mayor Carlo, but he could potentially do so.
The outcome of this matter will be unknown; it may develop in a positive direction, or it may develop in a negative direction—therefore!
A true Batman would never gamble with someone else's life on his understanding of the Joker.
But Chen Tao is different.
The time traveler chose to go all in.
Anyway, if you lose a bet, it's not your own life you'll lose.
He wouldn't be like a stray dog, summoned and dismissed by the Joker at will, only to then go and beat up the other Arkham members, exhausting himself to the point of rolling his eyes.
Those lunatics Bane released from Arkham definitely need to be wiped out; they have to be, but certainly not in this way. That's when these mercenaries will come in handy; otherwise, what's the point of spending money?
To deal with Bane while exhausted? He's not stupid.
Instead, he planned to use Bain's own plan to disgust the other party.
"Has the item been delivered to the clown?"
Tim nodded like a chick pecking at rice.
……
……
……
An amusement park in the suburbs.
The clown gang's various oddly shaped henchmen sat listlessly in various bumper cars or Ferris wheels.
These bumper cars are modified artillery vehicles, veritable killing machines, and the Ferris wheel's speed has been increased; if Batman dares to get on, his brains will be shaken to pieces.
But none of these are of any use.
The Joker told them Batman would be coming, but he had already stood them up for two hours.
"Impossible! I so clearly notified the Penguin... Batman would never do something like that!"
The clown was getting a little frantic: "That's not a bat!"
The scarecrow's voice rang out from the side:
"Maybe the penguins didn't notify the bats..."
"impossible!"
The Joker said, "I saw him send the message with my own eyes."
He paced back and forth anxiously, even the smile on his face had faded considerably.
He rushed over and grabbed Mayor Carlo by the collar: "Hey, aren't you some kind of alien robot or puppet?"
"No, no, I'm just an ordinary person, a real human being! Please let me go!" the mayor cried. He wasn't tied up with any ropes, but he still didn't dare to run away.
He wasn't crying because of the clown's threats, but because there were four pincushioned landmines under his seat and a remote-controlled and timed bomb around his neck, making him a human powder keg.
Are you moved? I dare not move.
"Maybe Batman's busy," Scarecrow said. "This long wait is almost driving me crazy. Why can't we do something else, something that can truly instill fear in this city, something that can take control of it, instead of just holed up in this utterly boring amusement park?"
He saw that the clown was completely ignoring him and was muttering to himself like a madman, which made him a little angry.
"Why can't bats—"
"I know bats! The moment a bat sticks its butt out, I know what kind of bat poop it's going to take!"
The clown said that he looked perfectly normal, full of logical reasoning, like a pale-skinned detective.
The scarecrow thought the clown was getting sicker.
But just then, a drone stumbled into the Joker's carefully laid trap.
The scarecrow saw the clown shouting and chasing after him, and it was as happy as a child who was about to be given candy.
A tape recorder is suspended below the bat-shaped drone.
The clown eagerly grabbed the tape recorder and pressed the play button.
"This is Batman."
The clown immediately put on a delighted expression, as if to say, "You've finally arrived," but his face instantly turned furious in the next second.
Because he heard Batman say:
"Joker, you're not the biggest threat right now. Stop sending me messages through the Penguin. I'm afraid Bane will misunderstand and think I don't take him seriously enough."
"The police, the National Guard, or someone else will come to clean up the mess you've made. Stop bothering me."
"Oops," said the scarecrow.
Then, the next second, he met the clown's red eyes.

Bain arrived at Blackgate Prison Island at night.
Most of his men were landing, and he gathered the men he had scattered throughout Gotham City, the burly men he had brought from Santa Priscilla Island.
He led the entire squad underwater into Blackgate Prison... through the sewage pipes.
Sewage pipe railings are usually electrified, but that's no longer a problem since it took two punches from Bain.
Bain and his men knew every inch of Blackgate Prison. Clearly, this was part of a larger plan, one that had been meticulously crafted for some time.
Before Bane fully entered Blackgate Prison, a massive prison break had already taken place, so when Bane arrived... the revelry was at its peak.
After Bain broke the necks of hundreds of people, no one dared to challenge his authority anymore.
drop by drop...
Bain answered his call.
A somewhat helpless voice came from the other end: "I feel like one of those silly kids in elementary school who gets caught between two classmates with different personalities, having to relay messages for one and then for the other."
He said, "I have information on who the Joker is, and I'm sure it came from Batman."
He said, "I don't know why Batman would give you this information, but I think he must believe you can use it."
"Send it over here."
Bain answered him calmly, then hung up the phone, saying, "Bring the warden and his cronies here... I want to completely consolidate the prison's military forces."

……
……
"Let me introduce you to Mr. Bruce Wayne, Lincoln March, COO of March Ventures—"
"This year's Gotham mayoral candidate. Yes, I know that. Also, you funded March Ventures—Leslie Tompkins' East Side clinic, right?"
As Chen Tao spoke of the information he had seen before the banquet, he suddenly felt a buzzing in his head.
He recognized who the other person was!
Lincoln March—isn't this guy one of the Court of Owls' henchmen?
Chen Tao looked at the other man, who was the sharp claw of the Court of Owls, and gave him a polite smile: "I'm really interested in the investment, and I'd like to be a part of it. Bruce, can we discuss the details?"
Chen Tao stared at him intently.
"Mr. Bruce?"
"Of course," Chen Tao replied. "What are your thoughts?"
Thank you everyone for the Qidian coins!
