Chapter 64 Oda and Junko's New Home
The publicity department erupted in cheers. Li Yi covered her mouth and almost jumped up. Her colleagues next to her high-fived each other, their eyes shining. These past two months, they had been working overtime until late at night every day, revising plans, monitoring trending topics, and liaising with the media. It had finally paid off.
"As the head of publicity, Li Yi will receive an extra three months' salary, a 20% increase in her monthly pay," Lin Feng continued, eliciting even louder applause from the audience. Li Yi, her eyes red-rimmed, stood up and bowed, her voice choked with emotion: "Thank you, boss! Thank you everyone!"
"Other departments will receive bonuses ranging from 10% to 20% of their salaries, depending on their contributions." As soon as Lin Feng finished speaking, the entire room erupted in cheers, and even the usually composed finance staff clapped their hands.
"Finally," Lin Feng raised his voice, "starting next month, all company employees will see a 5% salary increase!"
The applause and cheers in the meeting room continued unabated. Old Yang wiped his face, smiled, and said to the person next to him, "Following Director Lin was worth it!"
A new employee took out his phone to text his family: "Our company raised salaries! And we got a bonus too!"
After everyone quieted down, Lin Feng continued, "I know everyone has worked hard these past few days, especially the publicity department, who have been working almost non-stop. But I want to say that this is just the beginning. The company will get better and better, and everyone's efforts will be rewarded."
After the meeting, the employees surrounded Li Yi, asking her to treat them to a meal. Laughter filled the corridor. Tian Xiwei pulled Liu Haochun aside and said, "Look, isn't Brother Feng especially handsome?"
In the afternoon, Lin Feng brought three girls to an apartment building near the company. The elevator stopped on the 18th floor, and the moment the doors opened, Tian Xi let out a scream: "Wow! This is so beautiful!"
The apartment is a fully furnished two-bedroom, one-living room unit. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the park, a soft light gray sofa, a simple wood-paneled TV wall, and several potted plants on the balcony.
"This is temporary accommodation for the two of you," Lin Feng said with a smile. "The furniture and appliances are all new. Just tell the company if you need anything."
Li Yitong leaned against the living room door frame, watching the two little girls running around excitedly, and said to Lin Feng with a smile, "You really know how to win people over."
"They deserve it." Lin Feng walked to her side and said softly, "Want to come to your place tonight?"
Li Yitong rolled her eyes at him, but didn't refuse: "Let's settle them in first."
Tian Xiwei suddenly ran out of her room, holding up her phone and saying, "I'm going to film a video and post it on WeChat Moments! I want my parents to see my new place!"
Liu Haochun also took out his phone and sent his mother a photo of the living room with the caption: "Mom, I'm doing very well, don't worry."
"This will be your home from now on," Lin Feng said to the two girls. "Call me anytime if you need anything."
"Got it, boss!" Tian Xiwei saluted him.
Liu Haochun said softly, "Thank you, Brother Feng, thank you, Sister Yitong."
That evening, Tian Xiwei pushed a shopping cart and ran wildly through the supermarket, throwing all the snacks off the shelves into it. Liu Haochun followed behind, helplessly putting a few bags of potato chips back: "That's enough, we can't finish them all."
"How can we not finish them?" Tian Xiwei grabbed another handful of chocolates. "These will be essential for staying up late to watch dramas!" She turned to Lin Feng and shouted, "Brother Feng, isn't this shower gel cute?"
Lin Feng nodded with a smile, while Li Yitong scanned the QR code to pay. Looking at the mountain of items in her shopping cart, she said helplessly, "Are you guys emptying the entire supermarket?"
"Girls just have so many personal items," Tian Xiwei said matter-of-factly, then her eyes lit up when she noticed the plush toys on the shelf. "Haochun, this rabbit plush toy looks just like the one my fans in Rongcheng gave me!"
Liu Haochun picked up the doll; its fluff was as soft as a cloud. She touched its ears and said softly, "Then let's buy one."
When they returned to the apartment, the two girls rushed into the room carrying shopping bags.
"We're heading back now. Call me if you need anything," Lin Feng said, standing at the door.
"Bye-bye Brother Feng! Bye-bye Sister Yitong!" Tian Xi waved her arm and pasted up the posters without looking up.
Liu Haochun saw them to the door and said softly, "Be careful on the road."
Li Yitong's rented apartment was on the twentieth floor. After entering the room, she said, "Please sit down first." She changed her shoes and turned to pour water.
Lin Feng looked around the room. There were several scripts on the bookshelf in the living room, among which the edges of the script "The Beginning" were worn and tattered.
"It's pretty good." He walked to the bookshelf, picked up a photo, which was a group photo taken when the filming of "The Beginning" wrapped up. She was standing next to him, her eyes curving into crescents as she smiled.
"It's alright," Li Yitong said, handing over some water. "It's close to the company, so it's convenient."
Lin Feng suddenly pulled a bank card out of his pocket and handed it to her. "What's this?" Li Yitong raised an eyebrow.
"Here you go," he said calmly, "the prize money from 'The Beginning'."
"Haven't I already received my payment?" She didn't answer. "Besides, this show has given me so many fans, which is already the biggest gain."
"You deserve your paycheck, this is a bonus." Lin Feng stuffed the card into her hand. When their fingertips touched, she flinched. "The password is your birthday. It's not much, the same as Xiao Tian and the others' signing bonus."
Li Yitong held the bank card tightly. She knew what this money meant. It wasn't just a simple reward, but his recognition of her and his respect for her, placing her on an equal footing with Xiaotian and Haochun.
Her eyes suddenly felt a little hot. She sniffed, and when she looked up, her eyes shone: "Master... shall the kitten properly 'thank' you tonight?"
Lin Feng's heart skipped a beat. He reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist, then lowered his head to kiss her lips.
The next morning, when Lin Feng went to pick her up from the apartment, Tian Xiwei was slumped over the dining table, wailing, "Why do we have to do training again? I want to sleep!"
"That's what happens when you're an artist." Liu Haochun pushed the milk in front of her. "Drink it quickly, Brother Feng said we're going to learn etiquette today."
"What's so great about etiquette?" Tian Xi pouted. "Does it mean we have to bow to everyone we meet?"
"At least you need to know how to deal with the media and how to handle fans." Lin Feng walked in, holding two training sheets in his hand. "You're not ordinary students anymore; these are all required courses."
"But..." Tian Xiwei wanted to argue, but Liu Haochun quietly tugged at her sleeve, so she had to swallow her words and followed behind with a long face.
In the company's training room, the teacher was already waiting. Tian Xiwei sat listlessly in her chair, listening to the teacher say, "Keep your distance when facing fans," while secretly poking Liu Haochun's arm under the table with her finger.
Lin Feng stood outside the window for a while, then turned to Li Yitong and said, "I'll leave them to you. I'm going to take care of something."
"Don't worry," Li Yitong nodded.
After Lin Feng left, Li Yitong pushed open the door and went in, sitting in the back row. When Tian Xiwei saw her, her eyes lit up, as if she had found a savior.
