Chapter 52 Surrender
Chapter 52 Surrender
"You're not kidding us, are you, James?"
"I'm not kidding you guys, we're really almost there!"
Inside the foundation's tent, Oswald stared at the position on the screen and glanced at his watch.
"We're going in circles! Ugh! What the hell!" The British captain's furious voice came through the comms. "James! You fooking son of...bitch! Did you take money from that slut Shen Xuanyi? You just wait, when I get out of here..."
Oswald stood up and shot the communication device.
He glanced at James on the ground, turned around, and walked out of the tent.
"The time has come; the target is moving toward the location."
With one hand on his earpiece, he ripped off his skirt suit with the other, kicked off his high heels, and pulled off his stockings, revealing his feet wrapped in bandages.
Finally, he ripped off James's face, and as gray flames erupted, a face wrapped in bandages was revealed to the night.
"Boom..."
Thunder rumbled through the clouds, and the night rain fell silently.
Oswald put on a black silk top hat, shrugged his shoulders, and a black trench coat wrapped around his body like a bat.
He walked down the slope and disappeared into the night. Behind him, on the road, foundation vehicles were approaching the white tent.
......
"Time's up, the target is moving toward the location."
Upon receiving Oswald's communication, Jiang Zhengge's lips twitched slightly.
"Tsk."
He glanced at the "archivist" who had been shooed away by Lin Chen and sighed softly:
"We need to speed things up."
Jiang Zhengge took out his phone and glanced at the time.
The instant he made the "observation" gesture, the "archivist" appeared before him amidst a howling wind, claws outstretched—
"boom!"
A gust of wind struck the "archivist," leaving "high-pressure wind blade" marks on its suit.
Jiang Zhengge's eyes gleamed with a deep blue light. He gripped his left hand tightly, and the raging wind gathered into a vortex in his palm, holding the "archiver" firmly in place.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jiang Zhengge raised his large-caliber revolver and pressed it against the administrator's head:
"Pfft!"
The 12.7x55mm armor-piercing round pierced the "archivist's" head, and black blood burst out like ink.
The archivist staggered back two steps, at which point everyone raised their guns and fired at it.
"Da da da da da!"
After a round of concentrated fire, the "archivist's" actions became noticeably slower.
Its body was covered with bullet marks, which intertwined with each other, making its movements as sluggish as if it were entangled in a spider web.
Lin Chen ran out of ammo with his revolver. Seeing that the administrator had slowed down, he rushed forward, grabbed his tactical hand axe, and smashed it down on the creature's head.
"Click!"
The axe was driven deep into the "archivist's" head, forcing him to his knees.
"Looks like you can't handle pressure," Lin Chen chuckled. "Then..."
The next second, he saw the characters on the "archivist" body tangle into a fleshy mass, mimicking the shape of guns.
Those guns were the guns in the hands of the group.
"Holy crap..."
Lin Chen kicked the "archiver" away, and as he backed away, he pulled up his trench coat to cover his head.
At the same time, the hundreds of gun barrels covering the "archivist" opened fire simultaneously—
"Da da da da da da da—"
The charging vest continuously emitted energy to intercept the bullets, but even so, Lin Chen still felt someone rapidly punching him repeatedly.
"Retreat! Back up!"
The group used their trench coats to protect themselves and retreated to the end of the corridor.
As soon as she rounded the corner, Lucy raised her hand and used flames to burn down the filing cabinet above, blocking her way back.
"Merde!" Lucy cursed. "That thing...did it clone our guns?"
"Information transformation," Jiang Zhengge said in a low voice, "those damages are basically equivalent to not being caused at all, this is not easy to deal with."
"How were similar anomalous entities handled before?" Lin Chen asked softly, panting.
"Generally, it requires a process of contact, evaluation, and testing," Li Zhanyi explained to Lin Chen. "Gamma-level anomalous entities may require several rounds of this process before their weaknesses can be detected, and then a concentrated operation can be launched to eliminate them."
"So the original plan was to act a week later," Jiang Zhengge lit a cigarette. "Damn it... we need to find an anomaly expert to handle this..."
At that moment, Professor Jürgen's voice came through the headset:
"The paranormal researchers are busy."
"Professor, how's it going? Any ideas?" Jiang Zhengge exhaled a puff of smoke.
"I have a plan, which is to inject an excessive amount of meaningless pheromones into its body."
Professor Jürgen's voice was accompanied by electromagnetic interference:
"For example, you can juice hundreds of substances, like tomatoes, bread, socks, garbage bags, chicken breasts, sausages... and then turn that lump of stuff into a bullet and shoot it into its body."
"In this way, it will instantly absorb a large amount of meaningless information, exceeding its information capacity limit, but it will be unable to weaponize the information as before."
"Even if you weaponize that information, it will only produce a bunch of tomatoes, bread, socks, garbage bags, chicken breasts, and sausages..."
"Sounds plausible," Jiang Zhengge muttered, "but we have nowhere to find these right now..."
He turned his head and saw Lin Chen and Li Zhanyi using a juicer to juice all sorts of fancy things, the faint smell of rotten eggs spreading through the maze.
Jiang Zhengge and Lucy: ...?
Noticing their gazes, Li Zhanyi looked up and grinned, giving a "V" sign.
"Report: Professor Jürgen's plan is being strictly implemented!"
"You... you carried these things with you?" Lucy's lips twitched as she looked at the bio-weapons in the blender.
"It's always better to be prepared," Lin Chen said casually.
"Merde!" Lucy cursed again, "It stinks!"
"..." Jiang Zhengge silently threw the cigarette on the ground and stomped it out. He dared not inhale any more air.
In fact, Lin Chen projected all of these things; the blender was from the restaurant, as were most of the ingredients.
"alright."
After finishing stirring, Lin Chen took out a magazine, scooped out the bullets, dipped them in the bioweapon, and put them back in.
He decided to discard the magazine after the operation was over...
"....."
Everyone covered their noses and did the same thing. They didn't pursue why Lin Chen suddenly pulled out a juicer, since it really did solve their immediate problem.
Once preparations were complete, the shooting stopped in the corridor separated by a wall.
"Be careful," Jiang Zhengge whispered, "it's coming."
The footsteps drew closer, and the men raised their guns, aiming them at the collapsed wall.
"Click!"
The wall was torn open, and the "archivist" walked in with his head down, his posture solemn.
However, just before everyone was about to fire...
It knelt on the ground and bowed its head to Lin Chen.
Like a loyal subject submitting to a monarch.
