Chapter 27 [The Golden Rose Society]
Chapter 27 [The Golden Rose Society]
The entire room fell silent instantly, and everyone turned to look at her.
Lan Ruoxi took a sip of goji berry tea and walked over to Zhang Lingyun's side.
She was so tall, and with her long, stiletto heels, she was a head taller than everyone else present.
Lan Ruoxi said calmly:
"He is my newly accepted apprentice, and naturally a student at Green Island University."
After these words were spoken, everyone fell silent, and no one dared to utter another word.
Bai Lu laughed.
She never expected that her goal would be achieved here.
Lan Ruoxi glared down at Lin Hao, her tone tinged with contempt:
"If you start trouble first, that's one thing; if you can't beat them, you can only say you're not as skilled."
But you even called security guards? Don't you feel ashamed? As a warlock student, you need security guards for protection?
From now on, will you still have the nerve to call yourself a warlock?
Lin Hao's arrogance vanished without a trace in an instant.
Lan Ruoxi snorted coldly and walked out of the lecture hall first:
"You two come with me for a moment."
Zhang Lingyun and Bai Lu exchanged a glance and quickly followed after him.
The three walked along a path shaded by roses, their delicate fragrance lingering in the air.
Bai Lu quickly caught up with Lan Ruoxi and asked with surprise:
"Master, are you really going to take him as your disciple?"
Lan Ruoxi gave a soft "hmm".
Turning to look at her, his tone was somewhat teasing:
"Why are you so happy?"
Bai Lu scratched her head and quickly made up an excuse:
"It's nothing. I just think that Master should take on more disciples, so that I won't have to do everything by myself in the future."
Lan Ruoxi's tone was flat:
"Taking on apprentices isn't that easy; I'm very strict about it."
"But look at our Vice Dean of the [Energy Shaping Academy], he's already taken on dozens of apprentices!"
"He's just getting old and worried that no one will carry on his legacy after he dies."
"But Master, you're not young anymore..."
As soon as Bai Lu finished speaking, Lan Ruoxi suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She slowly turned her head, her eyes coldly fixed on Bai Lu.
Bai Lu instantly realized that she had gotten carried away and accidentally told the truth.
Startled, she quickly shrank back and hid behind Zhang Lingyun.
Lan Ruoxi sighed helplessly.
Most witches have their own personality issues.
Bai Lu appears to be quite normal, but she always speaks without thinking.
Little did she know that the thing single women fear most is having their age casually discussed by others.
Zhang Lingyun stood there, and he understood something in his heart.
No wonder Bai Lu was so eager to have a junior brother; she was looking for a shield!
The three of them walked into a building.
Without entering any office, he walked straight into the depths of the corridor.
Soon, they entered a "salon".
The room is very large, with a high ceiling on both floors, and is decorated in an elegant and dignified manner.
Classical paintings hang on the wall, depicting figures chatting.
"What year is it since the reign of Emperor Guangxu?"
"Is the Empress Dowager still in good health?"
"Do those blue-eyed foreign devils really eat children?"
"Gentlemen, let's not talk about state affairs, let's just talk about romance."
Zhang Lingyun looked up and glanced at it.
The figures in the painting also looked back at him.
Below the hall, there are desks and bookshelves.
The air was filled with the faint aroma of black tea, creating an atmosphere conducive to a gathering of scholars.
Inside, all the sorcerers and witches from Green Island University were seated.
A group of people sat together, discussing profound magical theories in hushed tones.
Someone was bent over a desk, carefully drawing an intricate magic circle;
A few others sat on a sofa in the corner, slowly sipping their black tea from exquisite bone china teacups.
Zhang Lingyun was somewhat curious:
"How can there be a place like this on a school ground?"
Bai Lu whispered in his ear, explaining:
"Universities are ostensibly divided by schools of thought and colleges, but in reality, this division is not scientific at all."
Both sorcerers and witches are beings who pursue knowledge; the division of factions and the need for secrecy are two major issues we cannot avoid.
Therefore, in reality, everyone forms groups through associations, and there is competition and rivalry between these associations.
She paused, then added:
"The place we've come to now is the branch of the Golden Rose Society at Green Island University."
As soon as Lan Ruoxi walked in, several pairs of eyes turned to her.
Several witches surrounded her, laughing, and teased her casually:
"Ruoxi, you're finally here! We thought you'd be busy until late again!"
"You have too few apprentices. If you took on a few more, they could help you share some of the teaching assistant's work, and you wouldn't have to do all the work yourself."
Another witch chuckled and leaned closer, her tone slightly teasing:
"I'm telling you, you should think about getting married sooner rather than later. That way, it'll be easier to find someone to rely on."
"That's right, that's right! Your requirements for taking on apprentices are too high. Why don't you have one yourself and raise it from a young age?"
Everyone laughed at these words, and the salon was filled with a cheerful atmosphere.
Although Lan Ruoxi is the vice president of the Golden Rose Society, she rose to the position based on her talent and achievements.
Therefore, most of the people in the salon were more senior than her, and they didn't hold back when joking with her, but they didn't mean any harm.
After all, everyone gathered in this secret society because they shared the same ideals.
Most of them have no interest in power; they only seek knowledge and secrecy.
Lan Ruoxi gave a heavy snort.
She interrupted the laughter and said seriously:
"Stop talking nonsense. I have something to announce today—I've recruited a new apprentice."
The smiles on everyone's faces froze instantly.
Everyone started speculating about what kind of person could catch her eye.
Lan Ruoxi sat down, coughed lightly, and gestured with her chin towards Zhang Lingyun:
"Come here, become my disciple. Let these guys see what my standards are for accepting apprentices."
Zhang Lingyun stood there, stunned, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
Fortunately, Bai Lu was quick-witted and immediately poured a cup of black tea, gesturing for him to come forward and offer it to her.
Zhang Lingyun immediately realized what was happening and respectfully offered the salute.
"Um!"
Lan Ruoxi took the teacup, took a small sip, and the ceremony was complete!
This apprenticeship ceremony was simple yet efficient.
It perfectly matches the energetic and impulsive personalities of witches.
The people around were stunned for a moment, then started talking amongst themselves.
Someone looked at Zhang Lingyun, a puzzled expression on their face, and asked:
"He...he looks like a high school student, right? Professor Lan, why did you take a high school student as your apprentice?"
Another professor looked at Lan Ruoxi, his tone full of confusion:
"Professor Lan, what exactly do you see in him? It can't just be because he's handsome, can it?"
Upon hearing this, a witch immediately responded with a smile:
"In terms of looks, she is indeed quite outstanding. Just looking at her height, she and Ruoxi are quite a good match."
"Now that you mention it, it's true!"
Another witch chimed in:
"Ruoxi usually wears high heels, and not many men dare to approach her. This guy standing next to her, they actually look quite well-matched!"
It looked like a serious apprenticeship ceremony was about to be ruined by these colleagues.
Even though Lan Ruoxi is usually as cold as ice, she couldn't help but blush at this moment.
She abruptly slammed down her teacup, trying her best to keep a straight face:
"Stop talking nonsense! I took him on as my apprentice because I saw his talent, and it has nothing to do with anything else!"
The witches looked on mockingly and asked:
"Besides being handsome, we really don't see anything outstanding about you. Why don't you show us something?"
