Chapter 550 - 522: Second Update
The dinner left Sienna Thornton feeling indigestion, and to top it off, she was dragged by Old Master Forrester to the inner hall for a chat after the meal.Having traveled to Linden early in the morning and spent the whole day bustling around, she was already exhausted and wanted to rest early. However, Old Master Forrester seemed to be in high spirits for a chat today, perhaps because his children were around.
The sofa in the Forrester Family’s inner hall was made of wood. Although it had cushions, the chair was wide and deep, making it difficult for her back to lean against the sofa. Sienna Thornton had to sit ramrod straight.
She felt as if her old back was about to break.
As she was pondering whether to use the excuse of needing the bathroom to leave early, Simon Forrester suddenly said impatiently to Old Master Forrester, "Grandpa, you’re talking too much today, we’re not going to keep you company, we’re going back to rest."
Old Master Forrester glanced at the clock, "It’s just past nine o’clock, are you going to sleep already?"
Simon Forrester responded with a simple "hmm" and got up to pull Sienna Thornton along, saying, "Let’s go."
At this time, Sylvia Langley said, "Annie doesn’t look well, could she be sick?"
Old Master Forrester immediately looked at Sienna Thornton’s belly, smiling as he said, "Does Annie have some news? I noticed her appetite didn’t seem too good tonight."
Sienna Thornton was taken aback and was about to explain when Simon Forrester casually spoke up, "No, we’re planning to have a kid next year."
After speaking, he quickly embraced Sienna Thornton and retreated to their room.
Once inside the room, Sienna Thornton collapsed onto the bed, buried her face in the blanket, rubbed her lower back, and mumbled, "You spoke too directly! Wouldn’t a simple ’no’ suffice? Why say so much?"
Simon Forrester lay beside her, massaging her tense neck with his hands, and after a while, using his elbow to massage her lower back.
He laughed, "At least they won’t ask again this year, otherwise, every time we come back, they will ask once."
Sienna Thornton thought about it and agreed, letting go of the issue.
Simon Forrester had driven back and forth on the freeway twice in a day, actually more exhausted than she was. After washing up, he went straight to bed. For the first time in a long time, he didn’t bother her that night.
The next day, Old Master Forrester came knocking at six o’clock.
Sienna Thornton was sleeping soundly, a bit annoyed as she brushed her teeth, grumbling to Simon Forrester, "Every time we stay at the old house, your grandpa wakes us up every morning. I can’t sleep in even a little. I already get up early for work during the week, why do I still have to do this on weekends?"
Maybe Simon Forrester was used to it all these years. As someone who usually had a grumpy morning personality, he surprisingly didn’t react but thought that Sienna Thornton indeed had to get up early five days a week and was still being forced on weekends, which was hard to handle.
He spat out the mouthwash, grabbed a disposable face towel to wipe his mouth, and while wiping, he watched Sienna Thornton’s little face in the mirror with a thoughtful look. Then, he suddenly smiled and said, "I’ll talk to him later and ask him not to wake us up anymore."
"Then your grandpa will think I told you to say that." Sienna Thornton shook her head and sighed, "Ah, being a daughter-in-law is truly tough! I must have been out of my mind to get married!"
After saying that, she squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush and began brushing her teeth, then washed her face and applied skincare products.
Simon Forrester finished washing his face and leaned over to kiss her cheek, saying, "You wouldn’t have me if you hadn’t gotten married!"
Sienna Thornton was still feeling the morning grumpiness and didn’t want to engage with him, continuing to get dressed and apply makeup. While applying setting powder, Old Master Forrester came knocking again, "Jules, Annie, it’s getting late, time to get up!"
She turned to look at Simon Forrester, who was putting on his watch.
Simon Forrester immediately went over to open and close the door, went out, and who knows what he said to Old Master Forrester. Sienna Thornton didn’t ask him, but ever since that time, when they stayed overnight at the old house again, Old Master Forrester never came to wake them up early again.
It was only after a few times that Sienna Thornton suddenly realized this and asked Simon Forrester about it. Simon Forrester replied, "I told him, ’Your grandson is in his thirties, not a teenager, yet you’re still waking me up every morning. Your granddaughter-in-law will think I’m a lazy bum who can’t wake up by himself when we’re back at the old house, and she’ll look down on me.’"
The usual style of Simon Forrester—talking nonsense in a serious manner.
Sienna Thornton laughed, teased by him, "You’re just making things up. Grandpa surely knows it’s my idea but just doesn’t want to expose you."
Simon Forrester shrugged, "As long as the problem is solved, that’s fine. And don’t say things like ’I must have been crazy to get married’ to me again; it’s quite hurtful."
Sienna Thornton giggled, hugging him and snuggling into his arms, "I know, I’m sorry!"
And with that, the issue was put to rest.
Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester continued their routine of spending Friday and Sunday nights at Melinda Linton’s place, and the whole of Saturday, including the night, at the old Forrester house.
On May 1st, they had a three-day holiday and finally moved into The Fenmore Villa.
The villa was exquisitely decorated, with all kinds of appliances, kitchen and bathroom utensils, and bedding all ready. They just needed to bring their bags and move in.
So, a few nights before the holiday, they started packing. Since there were too many things, they first packed seasonal clothing and personal items to move, leaving other seasonal clothes to fetch when needed.
The hardest part was Simon Forrester’s entire study full of books and materials. Sienna Thornton didn’t have the energy to sort them out with him, so on the first day, he called over Gavin Gale and Harrison Rowe to help him pack up the study.
Gavin Gale wasn’t very talkative but meticulous in his work; though Harrison Rowe wasn’t as detailed, his lively personality lightened the mood. Together, they managed to organize and pack Simon Forrester’s entire study’s contents efficiently by the end of the day.
That evening, Simon Forrester and his wife invited the two assistants for dinner to thank them for their help. They found a seafood buffet downstairs at the apartment.
During dinner, Harrison Rowe asked Simon Forrester, "Boss, moving out from here where you and Director Thorne made your acquaintance and fell in love, won’t you feel reluctant? Like with that apartment of Director Thorne’s, in the end, wasn’t it you who..."
Halfway through his statement, he caught the gaze from Simon Forrester that suggested sewing his mouth shut and realized his slip... He was racking his brain, trying to perfectly shift the topic when Sienna Thornton suddenly took a phone call.
"Rhonda?" she asked, "It’s a bit loud here, I’ll step outside to listen, hold on a second."
She got up and walked toward the door. Seeing her figure disappear at the restaurant’s entrance, Simon Forrester turned back to give Harrison Rowe a cold glare, "Talking a lot today? Haven’t I told you not to mention the old apartment?"
Knowing his mistake, Harrison Rowe lowered his head, "Boss, I know I’m wrong."
Simon Forrester glanced at him, pointing at the lobster on his plate, "Eat your food, and talk less."
"Okay."
Gavin Gale looked at Harrison Rowe with a sympathetic gaze.
Sienna Thornton was outside on the phone for a while and hadn’t returned. Simon Forrester couldn’t sit still, put down his utensils, wiped his mouth, and went outside too.
Gavin Gale asked Harrison Rowe, "Does Rhonda know Mrs. Forrester? The boss seemed very tense, he kept looking toward the door."
After checking that Simon Forrester wouldn’t suddenly come in and hear the gossip, Harrison Rowe lowered his voice and said, "A lawyer who co-founded a law firm with Mrs. Forrester before, the second son of High Prosecutor Wagner..."
After speaking, he glanced at the door again, whispering, "Only a year older than Mrs. Forrester, you saw him at the wedding, a handsome Korean-style guy, unlike the boss, an old guy... It’s said that Dean Thorne intended to matchmake the two..."
