Chapter 611 - 582: Don’t Hold Her Back
Chapter 611 - 582: Don’t Hold Her Back
Simon Forrester closed the folder with a loud "snap," loud enough that Sienna Thornton, sitting on the sofa, looked over.He set aside the Mooncrest project and continued to review other projects. Finding no issues, he quickly signed his name.
After sending Logan Lockwood away, he immediately called Jack, and soon found out that Gage Grant wanted Jack to work on this project to pursue a female celebrity who was planning to establish her own brand.
Jack wouldn’t disclose who the celebrity was, saying Gage Grant had sworn him to secrecy, and that if word got out, the funding for the project would be withheld.
After hanging up, Simon Forrester turned to Sienna Thornton: "What is Maeve up to recently?"
Sienna was looking at her phone, then raised her head to look at him: "I called her during the New Year, she said she was back home doing e-commerce."
Mentioning Maeve, Sienna slightly pursed her lips, feeling quite downhearted.
Mid last year, after they moved into their new home, Maeve was preparing for a national tour. But after more than a month, a set of photos suddenly surfaced online, accusing Maeve of using underhanded means to secure tour sponsorships. Her fans, who always saw her as a uniquely independent and pure figure in the music world, quickly threatened to unfollow her. As the controversy grew, she found herself unable to book performances, and even a single she released couldn’t sell. Disheartened, she struggled for a few months in the city before returning home.
At that time, Sienna was busy—first Ian Grant passed away, then Mina Thorne got married, and she was also swamped with work at the Treaty and Law Department. Soon after, she took her team to Valois, and upon returning found out she was pregnant, dealing with constant morning sickness and unable to visit Maeve. Later, with Zane Forrester’s troubles in the United States, she couldn’t even return home for the reunion during the New Year...
She only occasionally video-chatted with Maeve or saw posts on her social media, knowing that after returning home, Maeve started e-commerce. It seemed like her life was okay, but she didn’t know much more.
After hearing this, Simon Forrester recalled Gage Grant’s mysterious actions over the past year and felt more suspicious about Gage wanting Jack to work on the Mooncrest project.
The Grant Family never allowed their descendants to be involved with people from the entertainment industry, and Gage particularly never dated girls from that circle. Why would he suddenly want to build a commercial center for a celebrity?
The more Simon Forrester thought about it, the more he felt Gage was digging his own grave.
He didn’t want to intervene, but also didn’t want to support Gage in spending a fortune to woo Maeve, knowing well that Maeve was very discreet about her orientation.
...
A few days later, Simon Forrester took a weekend trip to The South to reach an agreement with Sylvia Langley:
He would accept most of Zane Forrester’s shares, but Zane would remain the CEO of the overseas Forrester Group, managing it until Simon could fully take over in three to five years, and then other arrangements would be made.
This way, all of Zane’s assets would pass to Simon, and it wouldn’t interfere with Sylvia initiating divorce proceedings.
Simon didn’t question Sylvia further about the divorce. He was avoiding or simply didn’t dare discuss it with her.
That evening, he flew back to Brimfield, returning to The Springs Residences at ten.
Sienna Thornton had already had dinner and taken a bath, comfortably lying in bed listening to prenatal music. Seeing him return, she quickly sat up and turned off the music: "How did the talks go?"
"They’re settled."
"That’s good. Is your mom really planning to divorce?"
Simon shook his head as he undressed: "I didn’t ask, and she didn’t say."
Catching the helplessness in his voice, Sienna thought of him as a child watching stars in the yard, feeling a bit pained for him.
Simon went to shower, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Lying in bed, Sienna thought about how to comfort him, but before she could decide, he came out finished from his shower.
A mature man in his thirties, freshly bathed, clean as a young man in his twenties.
Sienna rested her chin in her hand, ready to praise him a little to improve his mood, when he said, "I heard from my mom that something happened with the Sinclair Family."
"What?" Sienna was startled, "What happened?"
Simon put on a T-shirt and long pajama pants, dried his hair a bit, then sat on the bed and pulled her into his arms.
They leaned against the headboard and talked.
Simon said, "After Nina Sinclair left, Colin Sinclair forced his first wife to divorce, claiming she couldn’t bear children anymore, and quickly married a young female teacher from the Sinclair Family’s educational institution, then they had a daughter. When his first wife found out, she went mad and was hospitalized for psychiatric care. Recently, returning from a late-night engagement, Colin Sinclair crashed into a guardrail while driving drunk and died on the spot, leaving all his assets to the second wife and the daughter."
"Oh my god!" Sienna was shocked, covering her mouth, unable to process the news for a long time.
"Mrs. Sinclair is my mom’s college friend, they were very close, so this incident hit my mom hard, possibly one of the reasons that prompted her to urge my dad to transfer shares to me early."
Simon remembered how after Nina passed away, Colin still had the gall to haggle with him, using the public criticism and vilification of Sienna online to demand a huge sum of a hundred billion. But in the end, ill-gotten wealth wasn’t his to enjoy.
It’s all very poignant.
It took Sienna a while to recover, shaking her head, not knowing what to say.
She recalled her journey thus far, how the four major villains she encountered had all met their ends, as if fate was fair.
Felix Raines got played by women at the gambling house; Ian Grant was gone; Jane Jefferson likely also met a dire fate; and even Nina Sinclair was no more.
The personalities of these people were similar—jealous, combative, vengeful, and greedy, without any goodwill. Their fates were closely tied to their characters. That’s why Sienna believed that character determines destiny, and a kind heart naturally earns heaven’s favor.
...
A few days later, Simon Forrester and his wife returned to the old residence, hearing from Old Master Forrester that Sylvia Langley planned to divorce Zane Forrester, and that the divorce papers and property division agreement had been sent to the old residence by a lawyer.
Since Sylvia’s fashion business in Franland had been losing money for years, Zane wouldn’t really be getting anything from her, so there wasn’t much complex property to divide, only Sylvia’s jewelry, paintings, and a couple of properties—a flat and a villa—in Franland.
When Old Master Forrester told Simon about this, he wasn’t very responsive, only asking, "Did my dad sign the divorce papers?"
Old Master Forrester, looking grim, said, "Zane will not divorce! I won’t allow it! He went to The South a few days ago to seek your mom’s forgiveness!"
Simon looked even more annoyed, snapping, "Stop holding my mom back, alright?"
Old Master Forrester picked up a pillow from behind him and threw it over, too angry for words.
