Chapter 34 Reminiscing
Chapter 34 Reminiscing
The five of them followed Li Yuan to a corner outside the practice room and stopped.
The corridor lights were a cool white, reflecting a soft halo onto the polished floor.
Li Yuan deliberately chose such a relatively secluded spot, clearly not wanting the other trainees to hear the following conversation.
"You've probably heard about how the debut plans were delayed because of... because of Somi, right?" After stopping, Lee Won turned around and his gaze swept across the four girls' faces.
"Yes, of course I know." Shen Liuzhen pouted, his tone carrying a hint of barely concealed anger.
By this time, they should have already started working on their debut song, and might even have begun rehearsing the dance.
Who knew that this delay would lead to me being notified by the company's development team leader a couple of days ago that the "project is suspended".
God knows how heartbroken they were when they heard the news.
Wait... there's someone who doesn't seem to have said anything.
Thinking of this, Shen Liuzhen's gaze unconsciously turned to Huang Lizhi standing next to her.
When Huang Lizhi heard the news, he didn't show much tension or sadness on his face. He remained calm as always and even drank water.
There was no change in those fox-like eyes; they seemed unconcerned.
Was it because of him? Shen Liuzhen turned to look at Li Yuan again.
She wasn't very familiar with the man in front of her.
The last time I saw him was when I was notified to participate in "MIXNINE".
At that time, Yang Hyun-suk extended an invitation to him, but Shin Ryu-jin, looking at Lee Won who had been watching him from below the stage, ultimately decided not to transfer.
She believes she will shine on stage wherever she is.
Moreover, Li Yuan's gaze towards Yang Xianshuo at that time was not very friendly, which made her subconsciously feel that Yang Xianshuo was not a good person.
"You don't have to worry anymore." Li Yuan's voice pulled Shen Liuzhen out of his memories.
He stepped aside, revealing Shen Youna, who had been standing behind him, to the four of them. Shen Youna smiled shyly at them.
"We can move to the basement tomorrow." Li Yuan's tone was calm, but everyone present understood the weight of his words.
Shen Liuzhen clenched her fists unconsciously, her nails digging into her palms, the slight stinging reminding her that this was not a dream.
JYP's rule is that once a trainee moves to the basement practice room, it means they've been confirmed to debut.
There are better facilities, more spacious rooms, and most importantly—a clear future.
"Your group's debut date remains unchanged, and the song will be delivered to you in the next few days." Lee Won gestured to Shin Yuna beside him. "As for Somi's position, Shin Yuna will take her place, and the group's roles will be redefined."
Although Lee Won was indifferent to Somi, he had to admit that she was very talented and had star quality, but her departure did cause some trouble for the project.
Fortunately, this job had little to do with Li Yuan. It was handed over to the Second Headquarters in this life, and he, as the second-in-command of the Second Headquarters, supervised the progress of the project.
"Yeah!" Li Cailing finally couldn't help but shout out, her voice not loud, but carrying a long-suppressed release.
She quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve.
From her first time joining the company to being eliminated from "SIXTEEN," and then becoming the only eliminated contestant to stay with JYP, four years have passed, and she has finally gotten her chance to debut.
Even her sister, Lee Chae-yeon, left JYP.
It can only be said that after hardship comes happiness.
"So everything's been resolved, you don't need to worry too much." Li Yuan's tone became more relaxed.
"Oppa," Hwang Yeji suddenly spoke, her fox-like eyes sparkling as she looked at Lee Won, "come be our manager."
Li Yuan paused for a moment, then pointed to his face, a half-smile on his face: "Would your gorilla president agree?"
"That's true." Upon hearing this, Huang Lizhi's shoulders slumped like a deflated balloon.
The first rule for JYP's management applicants is that they cannot be too good-looking; this is an "ironclad rule" personally stated by Park Jin-young.
As for the reason, it is said that they are afraid of any unnecessary "chemical reaction" between the manager and the idol.
"Alright, go back and practice first." Li Yuan waved his hand. "We still have a lot to do, don't waste time here."
The five girls exchanged glances, nodded, and turned to walk towards the practice room.
"Oh, right..." Li Yuan added, watching their retreating figures, "Call Lily and Wu Haiyuan out. Tell them to wait for me at the door."
A moment later, Wu Haiyuan and the other person came out of the door, one in front of the other.
"This way." Li Yuan waved to them, then turned and walked towards a quieter spot at the end of the corridor.
My acquaintance with Lily dates back more than two years:
Lily had only been with JYP for a short time. Because her Korean wasn't very good, and because of her mixed-race appearance and straightforward personality, she was ostracized by some of the trainees.
After learning about this, Li Yuan didn't say a word and directly took action to eliminate a group of bullies.
The opportunity to get to know Oh Hae-won came from her standing up for him at the time.
Although she couldn't fight against so many opponents, there wasn't much she could do, but she persevered until Li Yuan arrived.
During that time, her own practice was also affected, but she never complained.
"How have you been lately?" Li Yuan asked directly, without beating around the bush.
"Yeah, it's good." Lily nodded, her Korean much more fluent than when she first arrived. "Ever since Oppa dealt with that matter, no one has bothered us anymore."
"Everyone's relationship has become quite good." She paused, then added.
Wu Haiyuan nodded in agreement without saying a word.
"You actually had a chance to debut this time, but I refused." Li Yuan paused for a moment, then looked at the two people in front of him and said.
"Huh?" Lily paused, her big eyes filled with confusion and a hint of barely perceptible disappointment.
"It's because of style issues," Li Yuandao said. "You guys aren't suited to ITZY's style. Forcing you into it won't be good for you or the group."
"Besides, didn't you two want to debut together? We can't just separate you, can we?"
Lily once said that if she weren't going to go solo, she would definitely want to be in a group with Oh Hae-won.
Lee Won knew about this, and Park Jin-young actually knew about it too.
Furthermore, Li Yuan couldn't possibly tell them that their debut group had already been decided, named NMIXX, but it would be more than three years later.
"Hmm..." Lily nodded and didn't say anything more.
"Anyway, practice hard," Li Yuan said, looking at them. "I'll keep a close eye on you."
"How do you supervise? Through dreams?" Wu Haiyuan pursed her lips.
"I'll be staying in South Korea for a long time this time," Li Yuan smiled. "I'll have plenty of time to keep an eye on you."
"Oh?" Lily's eyes lit up instantly, her earlier disappointment completely washed away by curiosity. "How long?"
"A few years, I guess," Li Yuan said casually.
"Huh?" Even Wu Haiyuan was surprised this time, her eyes full of astonishment.
She subconsciously exchanged a glance with Lily, and they both saw the same expression in each other's eyes—surprise.
Lee Won then briefly explained what had happened—an exchange student, Seoul National University, and spending a few years in South Korea.
"Then we'll wait for Oppa to come and 'supervise' us," Oh Hae-won said, blinking her eyes.
"Okay, let's wait and see."
Just don't be like a pear.
Li Yuan was very strict in some ways.
