Chapter 1081: Worlds Apart
This mountain area clearly isn’t a tourist spot; there are no economic crops on the mountain, and even the nearby villagers rarely come up here. It’s obviously a barren mountain, sparsely populated, and naturally overgrown with weeds. It’s almost summer now, the mountain’s climate is suitable yet unmanaged, and the trees here are lush and dense, in other words, the terrain is extremely difficult to navigate.
Of course, it’s slightly better than a jungle, but this kind of rugged path wouldn’t be liked even by seasoned travelers; walking it consumes too much energy, especially at night, with unclear road conditions, no map, no directions.
They are worried about being discovered by the kidnappers, so they dare not use lights, relying only on the faint moonlight and their own eyesight to find their way.
They cannot find their way randomly; they must rely on clues that the kidnappers might have left.
This approach increases the difficulty even more, making the progress slower.
However, not long after, Kellan Blake began to feel something was off.
Whether Kai Bright was discovering clues or navigating this complex terrain, if Kellan were to describe him, two words would suffice—professional!
Kellan Blake secretly compared himself to Kai Bright in his mind and was shocked to realize that he was far inferior to Kai in every aspect.
As Kellan tightly followed behind Kai Bright, he began doubting his life choices.
Has the outdoor survival and tracking ability of the current generation of rich kids surpassed those who fought their way through thousands in training camps?
Just as Kellan was lost in thought, Kai Bright suddenly stopped, quickly finding a cover and hiding his tracks.
Kellan’s movements were equally swift as he hid, simultaneously peeking forward. A few hundred meters ahead, there was a solitary building that looked like an old processing workshop. Its dilapidated appearance showed it had been abandoned for an unknown period.
Kai Bright took out the walkie-talkie given by Charles Seymour, he didn’t speak but tapped on it quickly and rhythmically with his fingers.
Kellan’s face changed dramatically; Kai’s tapping was clearly using a code exclusive to the master group in the training camp.
A response came from the other side, indicating the message was received.
Then, Kai Bright continued to tap out the situation here in code, before putting away the walkie-talkie.
He observed the workshop’s situation while instructing Kellan Blake in the softest voice possible: "Stay here, wait for those two."
After speaking, Kai Bright darted out directly, his movements swift and nimble, like a panther under the moon, silently approaching his chosen prey.
Kellan Blake was dumbstruck; Kai’s series of actions and his authoritative tone revealed an undeniable truth: Kai Bright was also part of the training camp, and likely undertook special missions similar to his own.
Perhaps Kai Bright’s rank was even higher than his.
Inside the workshop, only two candles were lit, and the light inside was not visible from outside. The people inside paced restlessly.
Lucy Wells was gagged and blindfolded, tied in the corner.
Wisely, she did not struggle. Instead, she tried diligently to minimize her presence, not wanting to anger the kidnappers.
At times like these, staying quiet is the best survival strategy. At least for now, the group doesn’t seem intent on killing her immediately.
