Chapter 1555: So That’s How It Is
"Ma’am, you have a great eye. This necklace is our flagship product, crafted with the finest water diamonds from Zulmar, and is of exceptional quality," the sales assistant introduced with a beaming smile. "Moreover, it is designed by a renowned Italian designer.""I’ve seen it before, that designer is my friend," the woman said unpretentiously.
Nathan Mills immediately took a liking to the necklace, the large diamond, and the unique style, so he said to the woman beside him, "Why don’t you try it on? Let me see how it looks on you."
Janice gave him a radiant smile, "Alright." She put the necklace around her neck, with Old Mills helping as well.
This scene really infuriated Carlotta, and she turned to get off the escalator.
Once Janice finished putting on the necklace, her entire aura seemed to elevate as she looked down at it, quite fond of it herself. "Who is Mr. Mills giving this necklace to?" She was quite clear that it wasn’t for her.
Nathan admired the necklace and smiled without answering. The woman asked again, "Does it look nice?"
"Yes, it’s beautiful." He was very pleased.
The woman carefully took off the necklace and gently placed it back in the box handed to the sales assistant, smiling as she guessed, "She must be a lucky woman to have Mr. Mills so attentive."
Nathan just smiled, not revealing too much about his emotional matters, as she was just a business partner.
"Thank you for today; you’re always at the forefront of fashion with a keen eye," Nathan sincerely thanked her. That’s the reason he brought her out.
"You’re welcome. I was planning to come here anyway."
"Let’s go with this one," Nathan said to the sales assistant. "I trust Miss Janice’s taste. Please wrap it up for me, and I’ll pay by card." He handed over a card.
"Alright, this necklace is thirty million," the sales assistant said, taking the necklace to make out the invoice.
Janice was full of envy. "Mr. Mills, seems like something’s going on with you?" She genuinely wished him well, looking at him with a smiling gaze. "Do I know the lucky woman?"
"Carlotta Sterling, my ex-wife," Nathan confessed. He thought there was nothing to hide, and maybe in the future, he might give her a grand wedding.
When they first got married, his company was just starting, and he hadn’t given her the ceremony she deserved.
He felt he owed her and wanted to make it up to her as much as he could in this lifetime.
Janice paused visibly, then smiled and asked, "Aren’t you two... completely incompatible? I heard she doesn’t even let you see your daughter?"
"Rumors," Nathan met her gaze and earnestly told her, "That’s absolutely a rumor. I saw my daughter just yesterday."
Thinking back on the time they spent together these past days, he felt a bit overjoyed.
"Have they come to Riventhal?" The woman was surprised. "Aren’t they in Korland?"
"Yes," he nodded, recalling that Carlotta was staying at his house, sleeping in his bed, and he felt very happy about it.
At this moment, the sales assistant came over with the bag containing the necklace and the card, handing them to Old Mills, "Sir, thank you for your patronage. I wish you all the best. The purchase is complete."
Nathan reached out to accept it and thanked Janice again, "I trust your taste. Thanks!"
"I also trust your taste. Good luck!" Janice sincerely blessed him, "If you remarry and hold a banquet, you must invite me."
"Definitely." Nathan, pressed for time, said his goodbyes and left.
At this moment, Carlotta’s car was heading towards the small villa, speeding through the snowy weather, contemplating buying a house. She was determined not to live there, and definitely didn’t want to become a third party!
