Zombie Queen transmigration into a book

Chapter 191: I’m not blind

Chapter 191: I’m not blind

The sun shone harshly overhead, and in the tent, Eva finally stirred awake. She looked at the ceiling of her tent dazedly for a moment before fully waking up.

She didn’t feel the urge to get out of bed or even to do anything at all.

’I wish I were served like those consorts in the novel... sigh... I can only dream,’ Eva muttered inwardly, her body feeling boneless.

She turned to the side and noticed the two were gone, so she merely rolled over into a comfortable position.

Her limbs spread out on each side of the bed, with her hair loosely scattered against the pillow.

The tent flap was pulled open. She turned her head toward the entrance, and their gaze met.

"You’re awake. Afternoon." Ethan greeted as he neared the bed.

"Hmm." Eva hummed in response, not feeling the urge to speak.

Ethan’s brows rose slightly at her lukewarm response, and he wondered if she was on her period.

He sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her hair away from her face.

"Does your stomach hurt?" he asked in concern, caressing her face lightly.

"No. Don’t feel like doing anything," Eva responded in a hushed tone.

"Is your period coming soon?" Ethan asked, remembering that her period usually started the same night whenever she became unusually tired like this.

Her first period was painful, and for the next two, she lay on the bed all day.

Eva froze, her heart sank, and she realized her next period was due.

"Ugh... why! I wish I were a man. (╥﹏╥)" Eva grumbled. She felt like crying—it was in this moment she missed her zombie days.

Ethan could only caress her face in silent consolation. It must have been because they were receiving natural nutrients from the sun that their bodies were returning to normal. He had even stopped using those victims two months ago.

He remembered that his sister used to have hers only once every four months; now, Eva’s came every month.

"I’ll tell the chef to make something sweet for you. And we’ll stay here until your period is over," Ethan said in a placating tone, his eyes brimming with indulgence.

"It might not be my period. I’m just feeling lazy today," Eva offered weakly, trying to convince herself while already dreading the painful cramps to come.

Ethan’s fingers in her hair stopped, and he hummed along half-heartedly, going along with her lie.

"I’ll still tell the chef to make dessert. Let’s go to your space. I’ll help you prepare for the day." Ethan added softly as he pinched her cheeks.

Eva’s eyes lit up at the free service, and a burst of energy surged through her body in an instant.

She quickly wrapped her hand around his neck and pulled him to her space before he could change his mind.

At that moment, Julian pushed the tent flap open and was surprised to find the bed empty. He stepped out, knowing they would have gone to her space.

Outside, the chef emerged from the cover of the trees, a satisfied yet exhausted expression on his face.

He had barely slept, making sure to harvest all those potatoes, but he still couldn’t finish. There was still an acre left.

"Master, good afternoon. I brought back potatoes. Should I add them to the lunch meal?" he asked as soon as he saw Julian walking to the stream.

Julian turned toward the sound, his gaze landing on the man covered in dirt and sporting a black eye.

"Didn’t you get some rest? You can do that—just make sure there are a few meat dishes for young madam," Julian responded without much thought, knowing Eva might strangle him if he told the chef not to include any meat dishes.

"Oh, use that salt we brought back from now on," Julian added, almost forgetting about the matter.

His words made the man’s eyes light up. He had been eyeing the salt they brought back and didn’t expect to be allowed to use it so soon. ’I have never seen such pure crystal salt.’

"Alright. Is Madam in? I want to enter the space to get some spices for cooking," he asked, looking toward the tent before turning back to Julian, whose expression grew strange at his words.

"Ahem. There’s no need to get them. They’re right there." Julian cleared his throat awkwardly, pointing to the nearly empty containers lying in disarray near the burnt firewood.

The chef’s heart skipped a beat before he broke into a panicked run.

Julian wisely strode hurriedly toward the woods, not wanting to witness a grown man breaking down in tears.

"My spice!" a sharp cry came from behind him, causing his steps to quicken.

The chef glanced at the nearly empty containers, his eyes almost welling up with tears. Fortunately, he had planted some of the spices and seasonings he had brought; otherwise, he would have been left with nothing at all.

’It must be, madam!’ he swore through gritted teeth, planning to hide the remaining containers in his space bag.

His precious babies were almost finished. He squatted and carefully picked up the containers from the ground as if he were cradling fragile eggs.

"I’ll make sure there are two fewer meat dishes on the table today." A gleeful, almost evil smile lit up his face as he imagined Eva’s expression at lunch.

Hmph, she wasn’t going to get off scot-free after stealing his spices from the kitchen.

He rose to his feet and went to gather dried wood for a fire to cook.

Spare kitchen utensils were in his space bag, so he cooked here without needing to enter her space.

Eva sneezed suddenly, rubbing her nose absently, wondering if she had caught a chill from staying too long in the water.

She rinsed the foam from her face, tilting her head back as Ethan washed her hair.

"Hold on for a bit. I’ll be done soon," Ethan said lightly, his fingers massaging her scalp as he washed her hair.

"Hmm... take your time," Eva murmured with a blissful expression, soft moans escaping her lips as she leaned bonelessly against his chest.

Ethan was suffering, his gaze drifting to the curve of her breast, his throat growing dry.

He quickly looked away and continued washing her hair, afraid he might lose control and go beyond what he was supposed to do.

After some torturous minutes passed, he rinsed her hair, wrapped her body, and carried her out of the water.

A sigh of relief nearly escaped his lips as he set her on a clean boulder.

He took out another towel and wrapped it around his waist, blocking Eva’s view.

Her gaze reluctantly moved to his bare chest, droplets of water sliding down the defined lines of his abs and pecs.

Gulp. She swallowed hard, her intense stare seemingly scorching Ethan. His blue eyes darkened slightly, but remembering her period, his desire quickly subsided.

He leaned down and lifted her into his arms. "Stop looking at me like that... or you’ll suffer the consequences," Ethan warned hoarsely, feeling she was testing his control—control that was nothing to write home about when it came to her.

"Nope~ I’m not blind. My husband’s body is mine alone to admire..." Eva whispered into his ear, her fingers slowly tracing behind his ear.

Her actions made his grip on her tighten, an electric shiver shooting down his spine.

"Stop," Ethan growled, patting her on the behind to get her to behave.

Eva giggled, crossing her legs behind his waist and resting her chin on his shoulder as if she were listening to him.

Ethan breathed a sigh of relief and strode forward, but her next action nearly made him stumble. Fortunately, he caught himself in time, or it would have been embarrassing.

Eva bit his neck, sucking on the mark before pulling away to admire it.

"Eva!" Ethan yelled in frustration, but before he could say anything else, Eva claimed his lips, cutting off the reprimand that was about to burst forth.

She buried her fingers in his hair as she kissed him as deeply as she could before Ethan took control.

He kissed her roughly, sucking her tongue, then her lower lips before pulling away to allow her to breathe.

Eva’s lips glistened with moisture. She sucked in the air greedily as she dazedly buried her face in his neck.

Ethan caressed her back, inhaling deeply to suppress the raging desire about to explode.

"The chef would have made lunch. Let’s eat before it gets cold." He changed the subject and strode toward the tent with hurried steps, as if he were about to break into a run.

Eva felt his arousal pressing against her stomach, and she burst out in giggles, her eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Once your period’s over, you can’t escape." Ethan’s husky voice held a deep promise.

Eva stiffened, already feeling an ache throughout her body. She quieted down and behaved well as he helped her dry her hair while she chose a simple outfit for today.

When they left her space, the chef was wrapping up. He greeted them, but Eva noticed a gleam displeasure in his gaze when he looked at her. She scratched her chin in confusion, wondering if she had somehow angered him.

Nothing came to mind, so she shrugged it off and headed for the food on the table.
