Chapter 684 - 655: The Happiest Woman in the World
After taking a shower, Sienna Thornton lay down on the bed for a while. She planned to rest for an hour before going to the hospital, but ended up falling asleep.Half asleep, she suddenly felt an itch on her face, thinking it was a mosquito, she swatted at it, "snap", seemingly hitting someone’s head.
She opened her eyes.
The room was dark as the lights were off, and a large man sat by the bed.
Seeing the man’s resolute profile, Sienna knew it was Simon Forrester. Clutching the quilt, she turned over and asked hoarsely, "What time is it?"
"It’s six o’clock," Simon glanced at the window with the blackout curtain drawn, shifted her hair behind her ear, "It’s already dark outside. Want to get up and eat?"
Realizing it was late, Sienna quickly sat up and turned on the bedside lamp.
The warm yellow light instantly filled the room.
Simon was wearing loungewear, sitting by the bed. She suddenly leaped into his arms, hugged his waist, and acted coyly. "I didn’t come home last night. Did you miss me?"
He ran his hand through her hair with a smile, "Missed you so much I couldn’t sleep all night."
Sienna felt soft in her heart, raised her face with her eyes closed, and only after receiving the kiss she wanted, did she nestle back into Simon’s arms.
She hugged him, pressing her face against his warm chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and recalled the day’s events with lingering fear.
After listening, Simon sighed and hugged her tighter, "Giving birth indeed has many uncertain factors; it’s always a risk. That’s why there’s an old saying — having a child is like going through the gates of hell."
"Isn’t it! Mrs. Sutton said all sorts of things, thankfully Seth Sutton told her to go back and not to come again."
Simon chuckled, "Seth didn’t act foolishly after all."
"Yeah, he didn’t, but going off to some training when his wife’s due date is near is quite bizarre." Sienna tilted her face to kiss Simon, "You’re the best, staying by my side ever since I got pregnant, even personally taking care of me during confinement."
Simon chuckled, "Is it just during pregnancy?"
Since they confirmed their relationship, he had hardly left her, except for two business trips to The Northeast early on.
Sienna stuck out her tongue and corrected, "Yes! Always by my side!"
She affectionately embraced him, buried her face into his neck, and whispered an emotional confession, "Darling, thank you for making me the happiest woman in the world. I love you."
His warm palm caressed her cheek gently, holding her face, he kissed her hair.
If not for Sylvia Langley and the kids waiting downstairs for them to have dinner, he would have wanted to have a good chat with her now.
"Let’s go eat first." He draped the long nightgown lying at the foot of the bed over her, "After dinner, come back up early to rest, I’ll take care of the kids."
"I’ll go see Mina at the hospital after dinner and come back."
"I’ll go with you."
...
After dining, Simon Forrester and Sienna, bringing along the bird’s nest Sylvia Langley had prepared, headed to the hospital together.
Before entering the ward, Sienna went in first to greet Mina Thorne and received her consent before bringing Simon Forrester outside waiting in.
Quentin Thorne and Melinda Linton were still around, with Seth Sutton sitting by the bedside, occasionally wiping the sweat off Mina’s brow.
Once Simon entered, Mina weakly called out "brother-in-law." Simon, who didn’t have a great impression of her, merely nodded slightly, handing the prepared red envelope to Seth.
Seth took it with a cheerful smile, even saying it was a token gift for his son calling him uncle.
Because Simon was present, Sienna didn’t linger long, reminding Mina to call her if needed and assured her she’d visit again after work tomorrow before leaving.
On their way back, Simon considered asking why none of the Grant Family was present for his niece’s childbirth but, anticipating that it would lead to talking about Zachary Grant, decided to swallow his words, feeling agitated at the mere thought of that name.
Naturally, Sienna mentioned it herself, saying Mina didn’t want Old Master Grant to know she suffered so much during childbirth, and planned to inform him to visit at the postpartum center after being discharged.
"She isn’t bad-hearted. When she genuinely cares for someone, she can be warmhearted." Sienna said.
Driving, Simon glanced at her, then quickly returned his gaze to the road. "Seth must be guiding her as well."
When they arrived home, Sylvia had already bathed the children, fed them milk, and was now gently rocking them to sleep in the room.
Sienna hurried to change and took Victor to sleep.
Understanding that she had been working overtime lately and hadn’t rested well at the hospital overnight, Simon didn’t insist on her exercising upstairs, instead showered, then snuggled with her on the bed, whispering gently.
During Mina’s three days in the hospital, Sienna stopped working overtime and went straight to the hospital after work to chat and lift Mina’s spirits until after dinner when she returned home.
Melinda brought postpartum meals to the hospital but was discouraged from staying by Mina. Their relationship continued just like this.
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton didn’t appear again until the day Mina was discharged when they both showed up at the hospital. Mina interacted coldly with Mrs. Sutton, and Seth, noticing, said nothing, letting things be.
On her discharge day, Sienna also came to help, staying until the family was settled at the postpartum center before returning home with her parents.
Seth initially wanted to return to work after a week post-birth, but Quentin Thorne ordered him to take a month’s leave to care for his wife and daughter at the postpartum facility. Although he requested leave, he seemed a bit restless.
However, even staying at the postpartum facility, Mina still didn’t seem to have a good time.
She struggled with insufficient milk supply, pressured and stressed every day, nearly becoming depressed. Mrs. Sutton visited several times, seeing her grandson drinking formula, rudely questioned Mina about her lack of milk.
Emotionally upset, Mina argued with Mrs. Sutton. After Seth persuaded his mother to leave, she broke down crying, refused food, refused to nurse, and held her child, saying she wanted to jump off a building.
Sienna felt Mina had signs of depression, urgently having Joyce Sutton introduce a doctor for diagnosis. Indeed, Mina had postpartum depression.
Luckily, Seth was reasonable, listened to the doctor’s advice, and told his parents not to visit the postpartum facility. He promised to take the child to see them after the baby’s full month.
Witnessing Mina’s entire birth and postpartum process, Sienna suddenly felt that, compared to the feelings she harbored against the Forrester Family postpartum, she had been relatively fortunate.
A husband who always accompanied her attentively; a mother-in-law who, although absent, did not cause any trouble; and even Elder Forrester, whose occasional remarks were annoying, seemed trivial when compared to the Sutton parents.
